Storey Leads Qualifiers for JEGS Super Quick Shootout
10/8/2010

Ken Storey leads the special eight car field, based on qualifying points earned at 2010 series events, into the battle for the 14th running of the JEGS Super Quick SHOOTOUT which will be contested Saturday at this weekend’s 19th annual NHRA Fall Classic National Open, Oct. 9 & 10.

Storey qualified number one at two of the eight series events this year, taking the pole at Kil-Kare and Coles County.  Al Peavler was the number one qualifier at the season opener at Gateway and Kristina Lawyer led qualifying at the Beech Bend event over Memorial weekend.

Defending series champion Christopher Carrico and Mike Bagley have the opportunity to make history as the first racer to win two Shootout titles.  There has never been a repeat winner in the previous 13-years of the Shootout which annually takes place at the season ending event at Indy.

Nick Hamilton, Ashley Marie Bach and Jeff Brown secured their spots in the elite 8-car field with strong qualifying finishes at Pacemakers Dragway Park, the final event counting toward this year’s JEGS SHOOTOUT.

Five of this year’s Shootout qualifiers are also in contention for the division championship including Peavler, Lawyer, Carrico, Hamilton and Brown.

The $2,000 Shootout purse is awarded in the form of Jegs gift certificates with $1,000 to the winner, $300 to the runner-up, $150 to each of the semi-finalists and $100 to each of the remaining shootout participants.
