Former Comp world champ and 7x Division 3 champ Arnold dies

Former NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series national and 7 time North Central
 
Division 3 Comp champion Jerry Arnold died March 3.  He was 72.

 

Arnold scored two national event victories during his title-winning 2000 season, in Chicago and Reading, and was runner-up at the Chevrolet Performance U.S. Nationals in 2002.  He won 22 divisional events in 35 final round appearances.

 

Arnold, who was inducted in to the Michigan Motorsports Hall of Fame in 1998, had driven gassers, altereds, dragsters, and in Stock and Modified eliminators in his long career which also included the setting of more than a dozen NHRA national records.

 

Arnold operated a successful cylinder-head porting business, Arnold Cylinder Heads out of his Kalamazoo, Michigan home garage.
