Division 3 Competition Eliminator Shootout and bonus fund has grown for 2010

4/14/2010

Through the efforts of Brian and Deb Browell the special Competition Eliminator Shootout and non-contingent bonus purse fund is back bigger and better for 2010 North Central Division NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series events.  A total of 14 different sponsors have contributed to the this year’s fund which totals $25,800 up 19% over the 2009 posting.

The bonus program will add $4,300 in non-contingent award payout to each of the six NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series events exclusively in the North Central Division.  Each first and second round finisher will receive $100 from the fund with $150 to each third round finisher, $200 for each semi-finalist, $350 to the runner-up and $450 to the winner.  A total of 14 different sponsors have contributed to the fund with A-1 Transmission joining a 100% return of 2009 program sponsors.  The bonus program is administered by Brian and Deb Browell and is in addition to the $5,200 cash purse posted by each of the host tracks.

Another element of the bonus program is the JEGS / Miller Electric Competition Eliminator Shootout to be run as a special race-within-a-race during qualifying sessions at the Beech Bend Raceway Park event, August 27-29.  The Shootout winner will receive $2,000 in JEGS gift certificates with the runner-up receiving a new Miller Electric welder.

The top four racers will be eligible for the shootout based on a unique shootout points program that includes both qualifying points and elimination round points earned beginning with the upcoming NHRA Lucas Oil Spring Spectacle of Speed at O’Reilly Raceway Park at Indianapolis, April 23-25.  Other events include the NHRA ‘Blaster Cavalcade of Stars at Summit Motorsports Park, May 14-16; Route 66 Raceway, June 11-13; Mid-Michigan Motorplex, July 10 & 11 and concluding at the National Trail Raceway event, July 23-25.

Qualifying points will be awarded with 32 to the number one qualifier, 31 to #2, etc. to 1 point for the 32nd qualifier.  The elimination points will be awarded based on the standard NHRA Lucas Oil series points system.

All Competition eliminator entries are eligible for both the event bonuses and shootout regardless of the NHRA Lucas Oil Division they claim as their home points division.
