2008 NHRA Summit Racing Series North Central Division Rules

2008 North Central Division Finals Rules

 

SUPER PRO (4.50-7.75) 1/8 MILE   (1/4 mile equivalent 7.00-11.99; minimum 2, maximum 24 entries)

 

1.  Computer:  Prohibited unless stock vehicle by new car manufacturer.  See general regulations 9:1

2.  Data recorders:  Permitted.  See general regulations 9:2 & 9:10.

3.      Delay boxes:  Permitted, one box/device only attached to trans-brake or clutch pedal

     and or line-loc, and or throttle timer only.  Delay box may only display preset delay

     amount.  All direct wiring must be clearly identifiable to the tech inspector.

4.   Trans-brake:  Permitted.

5.  4-wheel line lock:  Permitted.

6.  Automated shifter:  Permitted.

7.  Throttle Control:  Permitted.

8.      Ignition:  Stutter boxes prohibited.  Starting line and or "high side" rev limiters permitted.  Two-steps, rev limiters or any other rpm limiting devices, legal unto themselves but altered or installed so as to function as a down-track rpm controller, prohibited.

9.      Switches & buttons:  All switches and/or buttons must be standard mechanical connection type.  Infrared laser, retinal scan, fingerprint, light source or any other non-mechanical type switch and/or button prohibited.

10. NHRA license: Required if running 6.39 or quicker.

 

PRO (6.00-8.99) 1/8 MILE  (1/4 mile equivalent 9.50-13.99; minimum 2, maximum 24 entries )

 

1.  Computer:  Prohibited unless stock vehicle by new car manufacture.  See general regulations 9:1.

2.  Data recorders:  Prohibited. See general regulations 9:2 & 9:10.

3.  Delay boxes:  Prohibited.

4.  Trans-brake:  Permitted.

5.  4-wheel line lock:  Permitted.

6.  Automated shifter:  Permitted.

7.      Throttle control:  Throttle must be manually operated by the drivers foot.  Electronics, pneumatics, hydraulics or any other device may in no way affect the throttle operation.  Deadstop under carburetor or gas pedal are permitted.  Throttle timers, staging controllers, counters prohibited.

8.      Ignition:  Stutter boxes prohibited.  Starting line and or "high side" rev limiters permitted.  Two-steps, rev limiters or any other rpm limiting devices, legal unto themselves but altered or installed so as to function as a down-track rpm controller, prohibited.

9.      Switches & buttons:  See S/Pro #9 switches & buttons.

10. Tow vehicles:  Tow vehicles are prohibited in Pro E.T.

11. 6.00 to 6.39:  Vehicles running 6.00 to 6.39 in the 1/8 mile must meet all applicable safety rules for a vehicle running 7.50 to 9.99 in the ¼ mile.

12. NHRA license: Required if running 6.39 or quicker.

 

SPORTSMAN (12.00-19.99) ¼ MILE  (1/8 mile equivalent 7.68-12.50; minimum 2, maximum 24 entries)

 

1.  Computer:  Prohibited unless stock vehicle by new car manufacture.  See general regulations 9:1.

2.  Data recorders:  Prohibited.  See general regulations 9:2 & 9:10.

3.  Delay Boxes, trans-brakes, 4-wheel line locks,  Prohibited.

4.      Automated shifter:  Prohibited unless OEM.

5.      Throttle control: Throttle must be manually operated by the drivers foot.  Electronics, pneumatics, hydraulics or any other device may in no way affect the throttle operation.  Deadstop under carburetor or gas pedal are permitted.  Throttle timers, staging controllers, counters prohibited. 

6.  Line lock: 2-wheel line locks permitted on non-drive wheels only.

7.      OEM electronics, tachometer, single stage rev limiters: Permitted.

8.      Ignition:  Stutter boxes prohibited.  Starting line or "high side" rev limiters permitted.  One step rev limiter permitted, two or more step rev limiter prohibited, any other rpm limiting devices, legal unto themselves but altered or installed so as to function as a down-track rpm controller, prohibited.

9.  Switches & buttons:  See S/Pro #8 switches & buttons.

10. Tow vehicles:  Tow vehicles are prohibited in Street E.T..

 

SUPER PRO BIKE (7.50-15.99) ¼ MILE (1/8 mile equivalent 4.50-9.92; minimum 0,maximum 20 entries)

 

1. Electronics: Same electronic rules as Super Pro  except data recorders prohibited.

2. NHRA license: Required if running 9.99 or quicker.

 

HIGH SCHOOL: (12.00-UP) ¼ MILE  (1/8 mile equivalent 7.68-up; maximum 2 entries)

 

1.   Tires:  All tires must be DOT approved street tire.

2.      Electronics:  Same as Sportsman E.T. category.

3.    Tow vehicles:  Tow vehicles are prohibited in High School E.T..

 

TRACK MANAGER:

     Same as High School rules.  Car and/or driver may not have participated in any other category at event.

 

GENERAL INFORMATION:

  1. In all brackets, refer to the 2008 NHRA Rulebook for applicable vehicle/driver requirements based on individual E.T. and/or M.P.H. performance.

 

  1. Christmas Tree:  At the 2008 North Central Division Summit  Racing Series event LED bulbs will be used.  The second and third amber bulbs will be shaded and angled toward the center of each lane.  The tree configuration is at the option of all tracks at their weekly events.  Compulink AutoStart system will be used at the 2008 North Central Division Summit Racing Series event.  The AutoStart settings are listed below in seconds:  Stage Minimum 0.6   Staged to Start  1.1   Total + Variance  1.7 – 1.9   Total Timeout  10.  The Compulink CrossTalk system will be used at the 2008 North Central Division Summit Racing Series event in Super Pro and Super Pro Bike. 

 

  1. Only qualified drivers from participating NHRA member tracks are eligible.  Qualified drivers must have participated in a minimum of three (3) track point events and be listed on the track’s roster prior to the gates opening for the event.  No alternates or substitutions permitted on team rosters after gates have opened for the event.

     4.   Effective 1/1/2008 drivers competing at NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series events including the NHRA Summit Racing Series National Championships will be required to be 18 years of age or older.
