Summit Motorsports Park final elimination schedule announced for National Trail Raceway event, July 25-27

The final elimination rounds of the B’Laster Cavalcade of Stars Summit Motorsports Park NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series event, which rained out May 18 have been set to be completed in conjunction with the North Central Divisional event at National Trail Raceway, July 25-27.

To accommodate the SMP sportsman eliminations the start time for Friday’s time trials and qualifying has been moved forward one hour to 9 a.m. The SMP event eliminations will pick up where they left off with four cars remaining to complete the second round of Super Comp at 2 p.m. That will be followed by the second round of Super Street and third round of Super Stock prior to qualifying in Top Dragster, Top Sportsman, Top Alcohol Dragster and Funny Car for the National Trail event which will also act as a time trial run for those classes prior to resuming their SMP eliminations.

After consultation with Summit Motorsports Park operator Bill Bader, Jr. and National Trail Raceway’s Jim Layton and based on input from the Division 3 Racer Advisory Group who gathered in the Summit Motorsports Park media center during the final rain delay of the event, May 18 the decision to complete the event at National Trail was made by Division Director Jay Hullinger.

“Rain outs are rarely beneficial for anybody. The cooperation by both tracks helps minimize or eliminate extra travel costs for the majority of racers remaining in competition by completing the Summit Motorsports Park event at National Trail Raceway,” commented Hullinger. “We’ve made some slight adjustments to National Trail’s Friday scheduled to accommodate both events and in Top Alcohol Dragster and Funny Car, Comp, Top Sportsman and Top Dragster have combined the semifinal and final rounds of SMP eliminations with Saturday’s NTR qualifying sessions saving two extra runs for finalists.”
