Mid-Michigan ready for NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series event, July 11 - 13

6/24/2008

Mid-Michigan Motorplex completed phase two of its ongoing facility improvements with the paving of the majority of the shutdown area last fall and Mary Jo and Mike Ledford are reading the facility for the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series event, July 11-13.

Early season response to the paving job has been very favorable.  The famed Michigan track

underwent a complete replacement of the asphalt in the 1320’ racing surface in the fall of 2006 and now with the shutdown area redone racers will enjoy one of the smoothest tracks in the country.

This year’s event will offer an added Friday test and tune session from 6 to 10 p.m. for only $50 per car.  Gates and parking for the event will open at 5 p.m. Friday with gate and parking hours extended until 11 p.m.

Saturday gates will open at 8 a.m. with three full sessions of time trials and qualifying set to get underway at 10 a.m.  The first round of eliminations for all categories will be Sunday.  No time trials or qualifying is scheduled for Sunday.
