About World Wide Technology Raceway
World Wide Technology Raceway is a motorsport racing facility in Madison, Illinois, just east of St. Louis, close to the Gateway Arch. It features a 1.250 mi (2.012 km) oval that hosts the NASCAR Cup Series, NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, and the NTT IndyCar Series, a 2.000 mi (3.219 km) infield road course used by SpeedTour TransAm, SCCA, and Porsche Club of America, a quarter-mile NHRA-sanctioned drag strip that hosts the annual NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series Midwest Nationals event, and the Kartplex, a state-of-the-art karting facility.
Originally opened in 1967 and formerly known as Gateway Motorsports Park, the facility has undergone several renovations and name changes over the years, evolving into a state-of-the-art venue that hosts a variety of high-profile events.
The raceway is unique in that it features a diverse range of tracks within the complex, including a 1.25-mile oval track, a road course, and a renowned quarter-mile dragstrip. This versatility allows World Wide Technology Raceway to host everything from NASCAR and IndyCar races to sports car events and, notably, NHRA (National Hot Rod Association) drag racing competitions.
