Kuhnle Motorsports Park, formerly the Historic Thompson Drag Raceway, carries a legacy that dates back to 1958—making it the oldest continually operating dragstrip in Ohio. The echoes of legends like Grumpy Jenkins, Big Daddy Don Garlits, Shirley Muldowney, and local favorite Ron Hutter can still be felt and heard throughout the grounds.

Over the past five years, our team has completed a full transformation of the facility while preserving its vintage feel. Upgrades include 17 brand-new staging lanes, a redesigned pit area, expanded grandstands, a new Port-a-Tree timing system and scoreboards, and a track resurfacing project. Our commitment to safety has driven major improvements as well, such as replacing outdated steel guardrails with modern concrete barriers and constructing a wider, straight return road.

In addition to enhancing the ¼ mile dragstrip, we’ve also built Ohio’s first and only 1/8-mile uphill dragstrip designed specifically for semi-truck racing.

Kuhnle Motorsports Park’s ¼-mile track draws racers and fans from across the country. From JR Dragsters and no-prep events to grudge matches and seasoned competitors, our schedule offers something for everyone. Each year, racers pack our facility for our two Nostalgia Gasser events—now celebrating their 25th anniversary—eager to compete on one of the few remaining true ¼-mile tracks.

Our action-packed Independence Eve Explosion Event continues to be a fan favorite, featuring exhilarating exhibitions from AA Gassers, Nostalgia Pro Stocks, and the fan favorite Kuhnle Jet Semi (formerly Bob Motz) lighting up the night sky!
