Elevating On‑Track Safety: NHRA North Central Division Offers One‑Day Incident Response Training

When seconds matter, skill, preparation, and clear decision-making save lives. To help safety teams meet that moment, the NHRA North Central Division is hosting a specialized, one‑day Incident Response Training Course built specifically for track safety teams, rescue personnel, and local fire departments that support NHRA Member Tracks across the region.


This hands-on program mirrors the standards and expectations seen at NHRA National Events, offering a practical environment to reinforce and expand the capabilities of on‑track responders. From high-intensity extrication scenarios to coordinated fire suppression tactics, participants will train with experienced instructors and the latest AMKUS Track Program equipment—with AMKUS representatives on site to provide demonstrations, technical guidance, and real-time feedback throughout the course.

Drag racing presents a unique set of safety challenges—rapid acceleration, high-energy impacts, specialized vehicle systems, and compressed response timelines. This course is designed to help responders anticipate, organize, and act with precision when it counts.


Whether you’re bolstering a seasoned crew or onboarding new team members, this single day delivers immediately applicable training aligned with NHRA’s best practices for incident response.


Who Should Attend

  • NHRA North Central Division Member Track safety and rescue teams

  • Local fire departments that provide mutual aid or on‑site support for events

  • EMS personnel, safety supervisors, and track operations leaders


This program is open to all NHRA North Central Division Member Tracks and any local fire departments located near those facilities.


What You’ll Learn: Course Topics

  • Pre‑Planning: Site coordination, roles, and rapid deployment

  • Personal Protective Equipment: Selection, fit, and operational readiness

  • Strategy & Tactics: Incident command, communication, and scene control

  • Fire Suppression: Fuel-specific strategies and rapid knockdown

  • Extrication: Drag‑racing‑specific approaches and tool use

  • EMS Response: Initial assessment, stabilization, and transport considerations

  • Vehicle Safety Systems: High‑voltage, fuel, and restraint systems

  • Post‑Incident Analysis: Debriefing, lessons learned, and continuous improvement



Training Format & Equipment

Participants will work through a combination of classroom instruction and extensive hands‑on scenarios. The course features AMKUS Track Program tools and techniques, with on‑site AMKUS experts delivering demonstrations and offering one‑on‑one guidance to ensure teams become confident and efficient with the equipment.
