The NHRA North Central Division is proud to announce the reopening of its Hall of Fame after a brief hiatus, continuing the tradition of honoring individuals whose contributions have shaped the sport of drag racing in our region.
This year, we are privileged to induct two iconic figures: the late Irvin Johns and Bill “Redman” Floyd. Both men left an indelible mark on the North Central Division, embodying the passion and dedication that define our racing community.

Irvin Johns
Irvin Johns had deep roots in the North Central Division and was known as the first to offer help whether that meant lending a single part or an entire car. His generosity and commitment were unmatched. With a large fleet of race cars, Irvin’s presence at the track was legendary, rivaled only by the size and success of his Louisville-based towing company, Suburban Towing. We lost Irvin in November of 2024; he was more than just a racer. He was the North Central Division’s very own Superman, always prepared to step in and make an impact.

Bill "Redman" Floyd
Bill “Redman” Floyd was a fixture in the North Central Division dating back to the early 1970s. His skillset, dedication, and passion could never be deterred under any circumstances. Later in his career, Redman took every opportunity to work alongside division staff, ensuring that his decades of knowledge were passed on and appreciated by future generations. This commitment to mentorship and excellence is just one of the many ways Redman left his mark on the sport.
In addition to the Hall of Fame inductions, the evening will celebrate the 2025 Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series Champions, Oakley Motorsports Super Quick Series Champions, Summit ET Series Champions, and Jr. Drag Racing League Champions recognizing the incredible talent and achievements that make the North Central Division one of the most competitive in the country.
“The Hall of Fame represents the heart and history of our division,” said William Tharpe, North Central Division Director “Irvin Johns and Redman were instrumental in building the foundation of our sport. Their vision, generosity, and passion will never be forgotten.”
The Hall of Fame induction ceremony will take place during the North Central Division Awards Banquet, an evening dedicated to celebrating 2025 Champions that displayed excellence and honoring those who have shaped our sport.
