NHRA officials, alongside representatives from Summit Racing Equipment and Hoosier, have announced a unique opportunity for NHRA members across North America to earn a trip to the Summit Racing E.T. World Championship at the Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway by racing at their home tracks this summer, as well as an impressive $30,000 Hoosier Prize Pool bonus fund across the E.T. Finals and World Championship in Las Vegas.
The 16th and final spots in each of the four categories – Super Pro, Pro, Sportsman and Motorcycle – will be awarded to competitors at four different tracks selected during a blind draw during the upcoming DENSO NHRA Sonoma Nationals presented by PowerEdge, with results announced during the second qualifying session of the Mission Foods Drag Racing Series on Friday evening, July 17.
The winning tracks will have the option of how to select their representative, with options including season champions, a shootout event or a race of champions winner.
Additionally, any driver winning an E.T. Finals event or the World Championships in Las Vegas using Hoosier tires will become eligible for part of the Hoosier Prize Pool. A total of $30,000 will be evenly split among the verified winners using Hoosier tires during the event and running the Hoosier contingency sticker. Competitors are encouraged to purchase Hoosier tires directly through Summit Racing Equipment.
Earlier this year, NHRA officials announced an expansion of the NHRA Summit Racing Series presented by Hoosier. Eleven E.T. Finals events will take place across North America, with wild card winners also coming from NHRA Divisions 1, 2, 3 and 4. Those 15 finalists in each of the four categories will then be joined by the winners from the four selected tracks, with an opportunity to race at the MOPAR NHRA Las Vegas Nationals powered by Dodge, October 29 – November 1.
The 64 qualifiers for the Summit ET World Championship presented by Hoosier will be awarded $3,000 in travel bonuses, enjoy a VIP welcome dinner, take part in once-in-a-lifetime experiences like warming up a Funny Car, and ultimately race for title of the best bracket racers in the world, with the NHRA 75th Anniversary Diamond Wally on the line Sunday in Las Vegas.
Competitors looking to earn their way to Las Vegas are also urged to order contingency stickers now. Each of the 11 Summit E.T. Series presented by Hoosier E.T. Finals offers thousands of dollars in potential contingency winnings for racers running the appropriate stickers. Contingency will also be paid at the World Championship.
